Data Centre Design & Engineering

White space, containment and redundancy engineered around a target PUE — and proved in CFD.

Data Centre Design & Engineering
Overview

A data hall is a thermal problem wearing a building

A data hall is a thermal problem wearing a building. Rack density, containment strategy, CRAC/CRAH placement, floor void depth and redundancy topology are all one coupled decision, and getting it wrong shows up as hot spots, throttled hardware and a PUE the operator can never recover.

CORDEX designs the mechanical and electrical systems for data centres and IT rooms, and validates the airflow in CFD before the raised floor goes down. We model the hall at design condition, at failure condition and at partial load, because that last one is where most halls actually spend their lives.

What We Cover

  • White space planning and rack density strategy
  • Hot aisle / cold aisle containment design
  • CRAC, CRAH, in-row and liquid cooling selection
  • CFD validation of airflow, hot spots and failure scenarios
  • N, N+1, 2N power topology and UPS / DG sizing
  • Electrical distribution, busway and PDU design
  • PUE modelling and energy optimisation
  • Fire detection, VESDA and clean agent suppression

What You Receive

  • Data centre design basis and topology report
  • Mechanical and electrical design drawings
  • CFD airflow and failure-mode analysis
  • PUE model and energy strategy
  • Commissioning and IST support
